Rather like Blib's bad, sorry interesting, pictures of the Shard thread a few years back, I thought I'd start similar with pictures of bad attempts at wildlife pics.

As a starter, I give you 'Hoverfly'

Flying a kite.

Toads humping.

Ducks ducking.

Swans swanning.

None of them are at all sharp and the backgrounds are crap!

Whilst technically inaccurate, I think you missed a trick by not going with "Frogs Porn".

My submission: motion blur, out of focus, and not fully caught in frame. Soooo close....

Would have been a good pic but bad framing.

A robin I crept up on:

It was clicking my shutter onto silent mode that did for it.

As if to throw my incompetence into my face, two flew into my car. This is the one which messed on my dash.

Quite a feat. The robins in my garden seem to ignore me royally and stay put, short of me trying to pick one up! Women called Robin ignore me too. Must be something in a name!

I lost a dragonfly by a pond in Knepp Rewilding. My wife saw it on my hat!

I prefer photographing lichens. They don't move so fast, nor do they hide.

A fascinating field of study if you have the time and inclination. I'm definitely missing one and probably the other too!

A Squacco heron in the south of France last May:

I was driving a boat at the time; the thing took off about 100 yards in front on the starboard bank. The camera was in reach but with a 17-55mm lens and no time to twiddle with any settings... The attempt was good but the result wasn't...!

Usually I would delete such photos but this was unusual enough to keep for the record.

Compared to my 'Hover Fly' the rest of these are brilliant biggrin

I do like the 'Study of a Lone Log' posted earlier.

Ha, very good. I'm, clearly not quick-witted enough!

This could have been good if the camera had managed to lock focus onto the flying bird instead of the ground behind it...

Only way I can do wildlife photography is by cheating.

Excuse the quality, I was shooting through glass, and cropped the last two.

Curious kitten practicing his stalking...

In for the kill...

Instant regret.
