This is what I woz originally going for.

I had to attack the 'big gay telly' that just drew your eye directly to it, so I've dropped the light on this and blurred it up a bit.

I'd be interested in peoples thoughts on this, guess the best bet would be to leave it off next time

I showed this one to my nan who said "Urgh, I don't like that one"

"Oh" I said "it's one of my fave's"

"But you cant even see who it is" she replied :)

I'd love to hear what you guys think, good and bad.

:)

The pics of your son are brilliant, agree the tv does distract but to get a youngster to turn his back on his favourite cartoon is an acheivement in itself....leave it in!

I like this one best - it seems to show a smart kid who knows that TV is rubbish and is looking for something better. Great expression, focus and I like the perspective on the table that draws the eye in.

This is almost great but IMHO the nice silhouette is lost against a fusst b/g.

Pearls before swine, don't worry about it

You've turned it off

No I don't mind at all - it's appreciated, I 'attacked' the telly on the 2nd pic, the window also as that I felt was overly bright, but I never actually considered turning the thing off PS Stylie

Amusingly, I don't know how many of you have children that you like to take photos of, but he's an absolute bugger to get a decent 'normal' look out of.

I start with "Alex, daddy just wants to take a couple of photos of you" - this results in being shown a grin somewhat akin to having been asked by the dentist to show his teeth, coupled with a pair of eyes that look like someones just shone a torch in them whilst standing in a dark room.

"Errr, no Alex. Cant you just look sorta 'normal' for me?" I'll ask

"what like this" he says, with his mouth held open in somesort of wierd flattened O shape - but at least half normal looking eyes

Eventually he gets bored with looking 'strange' and becomes more interested in what I'm doing at which point I find I can take a few sneaky ones

I sympathise with you. I am gueseing your boy is the same age as mine. I find that the only way to get a shot is either take hundreds so that he gets bored with the whole exercise or when he is totally bored with the exercise. Usual results are along the lines:

'For gawd sake just act normal'

'No I'm taking a photo of the holly'

And the ever so slightly scary sudden change in to a moody teenager...

I blame it on elderly relatives 'come on dear smile for the camera. Say cheese' nonsense.

Personally I like your Black & White one best. The background is a little complex but I think it might look to cliched if it were overly simple as the background tells part of the story too.
