Photoshop what?

I have dusted off an old Photoshop 5 . Qurious as to what other PH are using.

I think Photoshop is up to 9 - PShop CS2 but about 500gbp to buy it was a bit rich for me. So old no 5 will have to do.

Are the newer ones much better?

PS6 here, and it's perfectly adequate. Also a copy of Pain Shop Pro 4 for when i'm feeling particularly stupid.

I've just gone from 7 to CS2, TBH you could prolly count the changes on one hand.

My mate uses both 5 and 7 claiming the latter to be slower and that everything's moved for no real reason

However , CS2 does natively handle Nikon {and that other camera make} RAW files which IMO is worth the upgrade alone.

CS2 is considerably "quicker", but there is nothing wrong with the older versions.

But so will 7 if you download the plugin from Adobe.

S'funny but CS2 ran noticeably slower here than CS, which is why I went back to CS.

the reason CS2 runs slowly is it needs alot more RAM than CS as its a more powerful application. like all these things as they get developed they suck up more power..

With 2Gb of main memory in my PC, it runs like a storm

CS2 - works a treat. Only problem is finding the time to learn all the functionality.

Went from 7 to CS (thank you lucca brazzi) and have to say it's not a masive step, but would advise getting the latest one you can afford.

I have recently had to warp a photo onto a balloon in a pic, and some kids onto Xmas Baubles (don't ask) and it is wonderful for doing this.

Smart Objects are very cool too.

They had a review of Graphic Tabs in a recent Mag and this model came out on top for performance and value for money. Ordered mine through Warehouseexpress. Bee Jay has the previous version 3 and recomended it.
I'll let you know tomorrow.
