Probably 80% of my images are taken using that lens.
Judge for yourself it it's "any good".

Hansgerd said:It's a great lens for the money. I've taken plenty of shots with mine that I'm happy with, before I upgraded to the 24-70L when I got my DSLR.
What's your opinion concerning the Canon 28-135 3.5/5.6 IS USM ? Any alternatives ?
You can buy faster, sharper and better built lenses (e.g., Canon 24-70L, 24-105L), but you'll pay more for them, and they will be bigger/heavier too.
As you've got the 20D, with it's 1.6x crop factor, you might want to look at the Canon EF-S 17-85 f4-5.6 IS, which will give a similar reach to the 28-135mm on a full frame body.
Also, Sigma do the 24-135mm f2.8-4.5, although I've not used this one myself.
