A little late, I know, but I'm back home for the weekend and it's the first I've seen of the pics. As per usual, some fairly heavy (and piss poor) photoshopping has been done.

I arrived...

But this stole the show...

Something else blue and noisy...

Something red and noisy...

Nearly a classic...

Definitely a classic...

And finally, a Skyline...

Couldn't quite get the Porker right, needed a bit more patience, but you get the idea. Really happy with the spot colour on the 260Z, others are okay but not brilliant. As always, feedback appreciated.

My feedback would be to show restraint with Photoshop. All too easy to get carried away. The best 'shopped images are the ones where you can't be sure if they have or haven't been manipulated.

The grain is quite distracting and detracts from what were probably far superior originals. The light on the Mosler and Tuscan images is very good, showing the smooth curves, and I think the grainyness is at odds with it.

With the Porsche image, again, restraint is the key word. The eye will believe quite a lot when it comes to photos, but subtlety is the key. Once you cross the line it becomes difficult to see anything but the Photoshopping.

Also, have a play with Feathering. Once you have made your selection (the Porsche) go to Select>Feather and this will soften the edges of your selection so that you don't have a hard definition between what's blurred and what's not.

Keep playing though. The best way to learn!!

They look like scans rather than digital photos, which might explain the grain.

Duh, why isn't there a tongue-in-your-lower-lip-and-slap-your-chin smiley?? It's the end of a long week

This was a couple of months ago. He's obviously using an old scanner, which can take forever

VW meet is coming up.

Cheers for the feedback.

I do have a tendency to overuse PS - don't have that much faith in my photography, so I kinda use PS to change the nature of the image, guess it's a way of distancing myself from the original.

The delay in getting these up was caused by taking the pictures on the family SLR and then disappearing up to uni. Pictures got developed while I was away, but I'm back for the weekend, so first chance I've had to look at them.

The grainyness was already in the pictures on the CD that came with the prints - could probably scan them better myself, but will probably put these down to experience and hurry up the process of getting myself a proper digital of some description.

If they start off like that, then you need to use the Despeckle filter. TBH though, if they start off like that, I'd get your photodisc created elsewhere or (like you said) scan them yourself.

Focusonme, I was at that VW meet too. Will undoubtedly be at the next one if you want some hands-on advice.

Don't think I'm gonna be able to make that one - am up at uni when it's happening, unfortunately. Will try my best though, would be good to have someone to chat to.
