Selling classic medium format film cameras
Discussion
Hi does anyone know any good places I can sell some relatively expensive medium format film cameras?
My dad is a retired photographer and amongst his vast range of old kit is a good condition Plaubel Makina 67 and Hasselblad Super Wide.
Both of these on eBay seem to sell for anywhere between £1k to £2k each.
I’m hesitant to use eBay to sell them for him as I know how easy it is to get ripped off using it.
Any enthusiast film camera forums out there or any other ideas of places to sell them?

Talk Photography have a thread on their site. I think you have had to have so many posts before you can sell though. My dad is a retired photographer and amongst his vast range of old kit is a good condition Plaubel Makina 67 and Hasselblad Super Wide.

Facebook market place will give you the highest amount as its commission free, however it will also give the most hassle for idiots
MPD will give you a hassle free experience but quite a low offer , ebay commison hits you hard, and you need to post and get quotes for that.
def dedicated forums will be best place for both but have a low views in comparison
all IMO
Hasselblad super wide, thats one on my list but sadly my car is currently emptying my pockets right now....

Where are you based? There's brick and mortar shops that will be an easy sale (The Real Camera Company in Liverpool/Manchester, Vintage & Classic camera co in Hayling, Aperture in London) but they'll take a cut.
eBay if you can be bothered to get the most money. Not sure mpb actually buy many film cameras?
I'll give you £50 and take the hassle off your hands

Unless you need them gone urgently, you might want to hang on until March next year and visit the The Photography and Video Show (https://www.thenec.co.uk/events/the-photography-show-the-video-show/)
There are several traders that set up camp there that will assess and buy gear on the day. Obviously you need to bring the gear with you and you might have to wait a while but the upside is that you get your money there and then and don't need to bother posting stuff off.
Depending on what you've got, you may find it worthwhile selling the lenses separate to the camera bodies. There's demand for good quality old-school lenses that get used on modern digital cameras, less so for the camera bodies but those interested in the latter will likely already have the lenses.

It's at Excel in London next year, not NEC. Does it swap each year now?Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
