Hope this isn't too naieve a question but has anyone been in the same position as me in this respect:

I want to get good live photos of bands (to sell) but without being commissioned by an editor anyone got any good advice about getting a stage pass to get photos from an advantageous position (e.g. side of stage) or even getting a photo pass at all would be a start as cameras are generally not allowed!
Some experienced band photographers here must have had this problem once!

And I'm not just trying to get in free!!!

Stating the blindingly obvious here, but the first line would be to speak to either the band or the band's management. Once you have the go ahead from them, the venues are a piece of cake (well they used to be - unless things have changed).

Good idea, the promise of some "free" PR pics should sweeten the deal too!

Malc,

This might be of interest to you.

It's a big gig in London with some pretty serious bands.

Suffice to say .... looking for a photographer.
