Canon f2.8 70-200 IS ?

Internal zoom or push pull ?

Desparately looking for reasons not to get this, but a Hong Kong trip is making the temptation tooooooooo great :D

And I take it that it is as good as the reviews say for those that have one ?

internal, my first was dead on arrival but the replacement has been faultless.

Apparently THE best lens you can buy looking at most reviews.

A mate has one. Don't know what it's like to use . . . he won't take it off his camera!

I'm trying my best to fund the purchase of this lens to replace my 75/300 IS

It's not one of those push/pull types like the 100/400.

Id only get it if you shoot most of your stuff at that focal length. Its a good lens but its a big expense if it spends its life in the bag.

Yes it's an internal zoom, it's also weather sealed on a 1 series body.

Should be available for the sub £1K mark if going to HK

Good point by Matt - unless you really need the 70mm end or f2.8, the 100-400 can be a much more useful lens.

I've got both, and use the 100-400 a lot more than the 70-200.

I would agree though that the 70-200 is a very nice lens.

It's an awesome lens, but big and heavy. Because of this, mine rarely got used I sort of replaced it with a 70-300 DO, not as sharp, but much more convenient. Oh, and the Sigma 120-300 2.8 too

I still miss it though, simply because it's a stunning lens.
