Old hat to all the experts in here but may be useful to others like me...

I especially like the comparator type tool charty gauge thing.

Useful. So the concept of 'stops' straightens out the inverse sqaure law so that logarithmic becomes linear.

I was too busy spelling 'logarithmic'!

Besides, the inverse 'square' law is slightly different... chaos theory and all that.
