I have been looking for ages, trouble is that as I get set on one, I hear about something better on the horizon and decide to wait for that!

AFAIK the Sony DCR-HC90 and Panasonic NV-GS400 are among the best 2 on the market now. Think the Sony can be found online for the £450 mark.

I am now wondering if I should wait for the next load of Hard disc ones to come out. (with 1080P?)

At this rate I will never get one!

Might just go for a chyeap 2nd hand one on flebay and be done.

HTH (a bit)

with the dvd camcorders, can you edit the footage on the camcorder or is it just burned straight to dvd as you film it ?

Straight to DVD.

Try this:
www.camcorderinfo.com/content/CamInfo-Select-2005.htm

They just did their "best for 2005" awards. Some really good information there...

What about a Canon MV770i (Or what has replaced it) and a bullet camera kit for your track days?
