Photo printers
Discussion
I want to buy a photo printer for home so that we can print off the digi pics without having to wait. Can anyone guide me as to what I should look for and how much I should pay. (I'm technically illiterate and a totally amateur photographer). I use a Canon Power Shot G5 if that makes any difference.
Thanks

I don't do home printing but by all accounts the Epson R300 is hard to beat.
Pretty good as an all rounder, was about £80 ish, gobbles up ink at a fast rate (6 tanks) but with Epson paper does a loverly job. Think there might be a newer model in the "320" but does the same thing ...(oh and one version costs more and comes with a little monitor, but a waste of time and dosh if you're hooked up to a PC).

What size (and any particular budget?)?
I had thought of one of those portables?
As I say, I'm not a serious photographer so I don't want to spend a fortune but I do want something that prints nice photos (if that makes sense).
The Canon IP4200 / 5200 has 9600 x 2400 dpi as against the Epson R340 which has 5760 x 1440. Is that good?

Reasonable results
Same money as an A4 like the Epson, so unless you need the size advantage.....
well not nessie-celery great value anyway..... PS forgot to mention, inks - best to have more tanks and then you only replace the ones you need at each time. Can be expensive, as already mentioned coming down in price though!
