After the thread by Piglet the other week I went out an bought a Panasonic NV-GS75. Absolutely fantastic camera! Just wanted to know if any bullett cams will work in the camera. Its got a yellow AV slot, I assume I can use that?

Cheers

Yep... as long as it has the yellow AV in, you'll be fine. Check out the manual as to how to put the camera into record... that's the most tricky bit.

If in any doubt www.rfconcepts.co.uk will advise.

Cheers Steve - at risk of demonstrating my increasingly obvious stupidity in these matters....the camcorder has a small round yellow "hole" with a headphone symbol -the manual says this is Audio-video output - is this the same as "AV in" or the opposite?!

Hmmm the headphone thing is a bit of a worry. My AV socket is IN/OUT. If I were you I'd check in the manual make sure it's that. RFConcepts also have a list of compatible cameras - well they did have when I bought a bullet. If the manual is unclear, I'd speak to them.

Ahhh, the manual! Its a bit limited when it comes to explaining the AV slot. I'll have a search through the RFconcepts website.

Thanks for your help

Having had a look through the net it looks like this particular camera doesn't allow any form of video input through the AV slot. Bugger.

I was quite looking forward to getting a bullet cam as well. ;(

Ahh that's a shame - I'll have to revert to my passenger holding onto the monopod for the trip to Le Mans footage!!

I think it was Tony Hetherington recommended one of these, and I agree. Holds compacts and DV cameras with ease.

What's it called? I can't find it on their web site? It looks like a camcorder stuck on top of my camping stove!!

Ohh I like the look of that!!!

We've got a clamp to attache cameras to rollbars etc. but can't find anywhere in the Saab to attach it - that looks like it would attach to the dashboard. At this rate I'm going to have to buy a significantly bigger bag for all this gear I'm collecting!

Steve,
I e-mailed them and have had no reply, what focal length would I need for bullet cam on a car?

Hi Tim

When I bought mine there was no option... I think Mark Collins is the best person to ask as when he bought his there was a choice - drop him a mail. I'm pretty sure it's the middle one: 4.3mm

I know what you mean! This could get expensive. I put together my first car video at the weekend and now I've realised all the other cool gear that I NEED! I was really hoping to get a bullet cam but it looks like thats a non starter for now.

I'm a bit concerned about how long those suction mounts will hold on for. If its hanging off the side of the car, how fast can you go before it flies off? I also need to get a mic that I can mount inside the engine bay for some extra audio accompaniment.

I had mine mounted to the side of the car with my compact camera videoing at 70mph for about a minute. Got out and it was still solidly on the car (well I couldn't pull it off anyway!).

You've got no hope! One little camera a video bag and a instamatic. My memory cards take up more space that that!!!
