If you had to choose from one of the following cameras:

 • Nikon D70S
 • Canon EOS 350D
 • Olympus E-500

...which would you choose, and why?

Nooo! No bloodshed, please. It's only a question. I can only afford one camera, and I can't make up my mind which one.

If I had that much money, I'd have a D2X and be done with it.

Nikon.

Well I've got four lenses that will fit it.....

Five actually!

Plus extension tube.

And a few other bits and bobs.

Anyway that's why I went from Nikon film to Nikon digital.

Edited - no actually I've got six lenses that fit it, seven when I reverse a Canon lens for close up work too

That's 20mm, 45mm, 85mm, 180mm, 300mm, 28-70mm and Canon 50mm!

I'd choose the Eos 350, becuase i already have a load of other canon gear. But i bet that's not the answer you were after.

Actually, i'd get a 20d off ebay

Get the Nikon and join the biggest CLUD on here. You even get a Stiffycat to show you are a member

Oh my God. Now I'm going to have to ask what a Stiffycat is.

Maybe I ought to mention that my current camera is a Coolpix 5700. Which is fabulous.

I picked the 350d, I like the colours from the sensor, the handling, good lack of noise, and the close proximity of lenses to borrow

I'm an Olympus tart. If the OM2N MD was made of chocolate, I'd be a fat bastard. Oh, wait...

go to jessops pick the cannon up and the nikon up and choose which ever one feels the most natrual, (which will obviosly be the nikon) its really the only way to decide between the two.

I got an E-500.. like it... felt nice.. no other reason... I am a novice, and as such have none of this canon/Nikon loyalty battle fever thing that seems to go on!

The Nikon should be lighter, since a "cannon" is heavy artillery!

.... and how can you possibly resist the Clud with monochrome camera shake like that?

It's not camera shake, it's "ARTY" Ask Simpo, he designed it

I was just going to say - do all Nikons produce that remarkable camera shake?!

Hm. So if I buy the Nikon, I get a Stiffycat. If I buy the Canon, I get a free cookie presented to me by the Green Cross Code man in a silly costume. And if I buy an Olympus, Wedg1e will try to eat it.

This is turning out to be trickier than I thought.

Really wanted D70s and being broke all the time spending all my money toward house project so ended up bought Nikon 8700 for £299 with 512MB CFII card from warehouseexpress.com which basically similar to D70s with fixed lens (knowing me if I get D70s and I will end up spending over £1k on various lens)

So it got 35mm to 280mm fixed len and with ability of macro shot at 8.0MP so I can't really complain about it.
