I normally stick 2 together on the end of my biggest zoom just to impress the girls, but I presume this is not their intended use.
Incident light hitting a lens from other than your subject will cause flare (at worst) and lower contrast (at least). You can't do a lot when it's hitting you full on...
e.g. interesting set of reflections through a wide-angle shown here....
...but otherwise it's like wearing a peaked cap to keep the sun off your eyes. If you're a 4-eyed-
