strangely, Nikon are listed as exhibitors but Canon aren't.

Do any of the exhibitors offer good 'show' discounts on equipment or software like they tend to at motor shows etc (eg my race helmet was about 50% of retail price).

I will be going, and some of the standard retailers (shops etc.) that have stands will have some show offers on, some are quite good. You won't be able to buy from many if any of the manufacturer's stands though.

A good plan is to know what you want and find the best deal you can before going, as sometimes that 'special show price' isn't as good as you think.

I bought from Camera World last year. Have a chat (if you can) with the guys behind the counter and find out what their best deal can be (mind you this was last thing on the last day, IIRC, and they just didn't want to take much stock away....)

I've been sent tickets but i'm not planning on buying much this year so think i'll give it a miss. Canon won't be there either so nothing to play with

The manager of a Jacobs store I was talking to last week suggested that Canon would be there as a major contribution to the retailer's stands rather than in their own right. Some of the press releases in the 'news' section of the web Focus on Imaging web site seem to suggest significant deals on Canon kit at the show - but then they would wouldn't they.

I guess it is wait and see time.

Perhaps they got the promotional photo mixed up with the one for the caption competition

You should try the SWPP convention - rex went this year an apparently it is the world's biggest concentration of old beardy men...
