Nice pic at the top (even though it wasn't s'posed to be there). Very Film noir.
Here's my top tip for macro.(task?!)
Put the camera into manual focus - make the lens 1:1 (true macro) and use your body to move in and out of the subject - i.e. you do the work, not the lens.
This photo of a waterdrop is about pinhead size using said method : www.stevecarter.com/macro/drop2.jpg
(apologies if you've seen it)
- and any comments about using ones body to move in and out of the subject will be ignored

Is that with the 60mm or 105mm? Would both lenses be capable of getting the same shot or will the 105 get closer?
I did use that method to get the mobile phone shot. Think thats about as close as I could get it.
Have you got the full frome image of said water droplet please?
Geg
T'was with the 105. 105 will get closer but is even more tricky to use (think rizla paper DOF).. but 60mm will get similar pics
Had a look-see and found the fullframe:

Thanks, that helps. Learning a lot at the moment. Just trying to set-up Adobe Album 2.0 that a kind person gave me earlier
. Need to start to catalogue and back-up all my pics.
Its all getting a bit complicated now I am shooting everything in raw. Need to yer raw shooter, then CS and now album 2.0 too!
Plus I have just realised that my memory card that previously held about 250 fine jpg's (ie big enough for me) now only holds 43 neff's!!!
I can feel a coulpe of 1 GB extreme 111's coming on.
