I am looking at buying an Underwater Digital Camera, needs to be able to go down to about 30M.

I don't want to pend a huge amount, just want a good one.

Any recommendations?

Can't you buy an underwater casing for the current camera you have?

I bought a hard case for my current Ixus although it was pretty pricey.

Hows about Canon S80 8 megapixel (highest rated digital compact in all the reviews) £313 and £130 for this www.fotosense.co.uk/shop_details.asp?productid=1507&productName=Canon_WPDC1_Underwater_Case/Housing_for_PowerShot_S80

I like that one!

I have a sony sureshot 5mp but its about 3 years old and I can''t find a case for it and a Sony F828 which they don't do a housing for.

Just as a matter of interest does this Canon have any appreciable shutter delay between pressing the shutter and the taking he picture

It's miles better than digital compacts I've used in the past - but I guess it's about .25 of a sec. (So like ALL compacts, it'd be pretty rubbish for motor racing - but then you'd want a long lens for that anyway).

Having used it for a while now...

bad points:
Can't cope with extreme lighting (dark hills/bright sky)
Zoom could be a little longer
It's a bit to easy to find the main rotary contol has moved from your desired setting
Having kept it in my pocket for a few weeks, the screen has now got a small indentation mark.
If you use the viewfinder - you have nowhere to put your nose!

good points:
Excellent picture quality - sharp, no noise and vibrant colours.
3264 x 2448 res.
first class metering in normal lighting conditions
ability to change stuff right up to full manual (inc white balance etc)
huge LCD with sexy slide show options
flash has three settings so you can take pics like this without 'white-out' (not sure if they all have this these days, it was new to me)
