Use a program to convert the footage to a media format that Premier can import.

Recommend:

www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp

...or there are numerous "free" programs that do the same. I normally copy to a WMV file, import into Premier, mess around with transform>crop (zoom) a bit and then export to AVI

ErnestM, you are a star !!

I got some crazy fetus footage, went to a 3D scaning machine with Ms Gulliver to observe
what is in the oven (She is 20 weeks pregnant).

They gave us a DVD of the creature, it is moving, flaying arms and all, it looks like something out of the Lord of the Ring......

I just want to edit it and all.....

Thanks again,

JL

The things they do today, eh? Back when we had our kids we were lucky to get a few blue/black and white photos. Last year my brother in law got a full colour one done courtesy of the new technology. DVD now. That's fantastic...

Good luck!

Or you could get the free VirtualDUB (MPEG2) version that can import DVD .vob files and convert to any AVI format you want or need (except WMV) to any compression rate. You can also edit the .vob file directly.
