Hi all,

I got a sigma 105mm marco lens recently, but only really just found the time to start using it.
Here's a few of my first shots, any comments please? composition, DOF any good?
I find it difficult to think of objects/subjects to practise with, any suggestions?

Cheers

Nice!

Love the cork

How's about flys, bugs and assorted creepy bits (they keep my macro amused)

i agree. that is a corker of a pic (sorry). but i feel that maybe it would be better with increased contrast in PS. maybe.

I was suprised the cork came out ok after a few bottles of champagne!

Never even thought of bugs, top idea, expect shots of creepys soon

see what you mean, colour is a little washed out, will give it a contrast tweak, think i adjusted the levels if I remeber quickly.

Cheers Chaps.

I like the flower best, nice lighting.

I agree that creepy-crawlies are good but only if you can persuade them to remain in the frame for long enough. They don't pose well and using hairspray or bug spray is cheating. And cruel.
