A new Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&

I asked the seller what his return policy was, as it's a lot of money to send off to an unknown destination.
seller said:
'sorry we dont offer any return policy.. and i will never let any one try any lenses .. simply cause this one is brand new and never used. check the feedback and you will see that you are in good hands.. up to you..

So I asked what would happen if, for some hideous reason, I got the lens and it didn't work/focus properly etc.

seller said:
hello, well even if a item had a worldwide warranty , then uk would not warrant it anyway.
i have used similar lens for a year now....... lots of volume work.. and my worst scenario is.. i do use my home insuranse if anything should happen..

What kind of a guy do you think he is? He sells a lot of new Nikon stuff - where does he get it from?

John,

Contact Ian Kerr at: kerso1123 at msn dot com

His lenses are sent from the US (with US/worldwide warranty) to a relation in Scotland, and then sent to the buyer (therefore no taxes to pay).

He's usually a lot cheaper than UK prices, and only a little more expensive than grey market goods. I've bought a couple of lenses off him now, and have found him to be very trustworthy.

Andy.

I bought the same lens from him - it was brand spankers . . . and cheap . . .

As far as that goes the guy seems legit . . .
