Especially for Greg as I know he's interested in this lens, a few shots from a walk to and along the beach this evening.

Heres some from my sigma 10-20. So far well happy with it, 24cm focus is cool, no CA at all (that I can tell) , not pin sharp at the edjes i dont think but I excpected that.

Actually I had a feel of a 10-20 in Jessops today on my travels. It felt nice, but I was suprised that at 10mm there was quite a lot of "bend" at the sides. I guess thats to be expected but I really didnt think there would be any.

I think your pics above are great and do look pin sharp. Is there any "bend" on that lens? Do you think there will be much difference in the angle of view from the 2? The sigma website says that its 122* on the 12-24 and 102* on the 10-20 but I wonder what it actually is on the 12-24 on a D70.

Tough choice.

Martin, do you really use it that much for normal shooting and is it actually any good for landscapes?

Thx.

It can't be easy when you're as short as this! >>>

Pretty much every w/a lens has some degree of barrel distortion (aka 'bending'). You might like the effect for that zany wide angle effect, or if you want to fix it, Photoshop CS2 has a lens correction filter. CS has Transform which can work quite well too. I believe that certain software has built-in adjustments for various lenses, but as I haven't used it I can't be more specific.

Bend aka distortion is something to deal with that can be corrected afterwards, all UWA lenses will have some, its worse if the subject is closer to the lens, you can use it to your advantage sometimes for fun.

As for the angle of view, I belive the sigma website quotes 122* on the 12-24 and 102* on the 10-20 because there adjusting for APC sized sensors, thich the 10-20 fits(only) and the 12-24 on full frame or whatever, the 10 is wider than the 12 no matter what.

The 12 would be equivelant of 19mm on my 350d where the 10 is 16mm.
