Good point (though on 25th Jan most of me was somewhere else).

However, I'm pleased to see the D200 made such an impact on you; you're clearly thinking of getting one

Perhaps I coud borrow it?

From reading the forum chatter no clear picture emerges; I would want to try one side by side with the D70.

Anyway, as I've just spent a stupid amount on a new lens, I'm keeping my head down for a bit!

I had a play with one in Grays as I was thinking of getting it for Mrs CVP to replace her D70. The one they had was a pre production model and did all but actually write the file.

From my 5 minutes play;
1. Well built, feels better than D70, lots of the rubber coating you get on the D2 so feels good an grippy in the hand and should survive gentle scrapes better
2. Focussing faster and better for moving subjects
3. FPS - seemed OK
4. Weight - a fair bit heavier than D70 but a lot less than D2x, objectively seemed to be a "good" weight and nicely balanced for me (smallish hands).
5. File writing / buffer - not sure as it was pre-production version and so couldn't test this

Overall from a very unscientific point of view I'd say this is much more of a cut down D2x than an expanded D70 if you see what I mean !

I was very impressed with it, for an upgrade from a D100 it's a no brainer, but upgrading from the D70 not so sure, I'd have to see some images from it.

If like me you often take huge crops out of images the extra 5 (or whatver it is) megapixels will be invaluable.

Still undecided if I'm going to shell out, waiting to see if the web design business takes off...
