Any ideas? I need a cheap, small camera to take snowboarding as putting the DSLR in the backpack will inevitably lead to an insurance claim

Ideally it'd be a canon and take CF cards but open to suggestions, cheaper the better as it'll only be used for stuff like this and will get wet, cold and fallen on

Cheers

I've used the Powershot A75 for some years.

Here's a few from this week's trip to Courchevel.

Canon's have an excellent panaroma mode

Depends on how small, how cheap and what sort of res you want. I have an old Canon G1 and swear by it for these sort of things, or mounting on a bonnet for remote release etc. It has functions like a mini SLR with full manual modes, Shutter and Aperture Priority. Only 3.2MP but it and will produce a pretty reasonable A4 and you can shoot Raw with it I think (although never bothered with that myself). It is covered in dents and knocks from numerous drops but is built like a brick and has never failed me. If you can find one on ebay I think it is a belter.

Edited for poos spalling.

I would if I could, but I don't, so I can't...

Cheers guys, the A75 and G1 - without me looking it up do they take Compact flash? None of the current range do so I'd be tempted to find one on ebay if they do

Nathan - I've got an old ixus somewhere which you can have FOC if you want it? Pretty sure it takes CF.
