Courchevel skiing trip - MODEM BEWARE
Discussion
On the skiing trip theme, here's my trip to Courchevel (and it's got a motoring theme
)
Amazing what a little point and shoot can give you. All pictures straight out of Canon A75 and just resized.
I went skiing to Courchevel this week. Fed up with delays at too many skiing airports, we decided to drive this time, using the weapon of choice, our trusty X5.
Four people, two sets of skis and a weeks worth of luggage all fitted in the car / roof box (Thule Spirit) without any problem. At the same place I took the picture of the X5, here was the view from the 'Aire'
The hotel was right on the lift up to 1850 from 1550 (Maeva Club Hotel - the "stepped one" in the picture - highly recommended if you are looking for something simple and very inexpensive)
1850 at the base of the slopes
Two friends having lunch at the bottom of 1850's slopes
Back down at 1550 at night, looking towards my hotel
Lunch the following day at the Piere Cafe on Valdons looking towards the top of Saulire
Firework display at 1550 celebrating the 60th anniversary of Courchevel
For the last two days the weather turned cloudy and it started to snow. The snow on the Thursday was a nightmare, being very wet and turning to ice almost immediatly on all the green runs (which made up quite a few of the 'inbetween blue runs'.
Looking down from Valdons towards 1850
Still, eating at the L'Oeil de Bouef was very nice (highly recommended, one of two resturants in 1550)
The bad weather created some amazing sunsets. This one is over my hotel
More of the amazing hanging fog, this time looking into the valley from 1550
After a weeks hard skiing, graduating into some serious red runs and off piste with our instructor
