Regular readers may know that I broke a CF card by trying to put the pixels in backwards.

It wsa a Lexar Pro card that I bought from CT (part of Calumet) in May 2004. Doubtless out of warranty I thought, but I contacted them anyway and they said that if I sent it back, they'd exchange it for the current (80x) equivalent.

I sent the dead one off on Saturday and the new one came today. Now that's service!

Is this a standard thing with Calument or was it because it was a 'Pro' spec card I wonder?

Probably not much to do with the supplier you bought it off Simpo, but more to do with

Product Warranty Period
Lexar "Professional Series" and "Platinum" flash cards and Lexar JumpDrive® Lightning As long as owned by original purchaser(Limited to 10 years from purchase in Germany)
All other Lexar flash cards (except xD-Picture Card) 5 years from purchase, (10 years from purchase in Hong Kong)

i was going to post something similar - most solid state media comes with at least 5 years warranty.
