My mate is a tiler and wants me to do a website for him in the next few weeks.

He has a few pictures of some jobs that he's taken on a camera phone but nothing that are of high enough quality to put on the site.

Whats the best way of taking pictures of flooring or wall tiling?

I'll either be using my Pentax Optio S5z or another friend 350D.

Thanks,

Phill

I guess your lighting's going to be key.

How about emphasising textures by being close in and use warm colours so that they're inviting? Then you can emphasise patterns. Candlelight for warm colours?

Fluffy cat would make it welcoming, I suppose.

Or slow shutter speed with a nice pair of high heels in motion?

Colour balance can be done in Photoshop anyway. A polariser would be useful for reducing (or enhancing) reflections. Some sort of additional lighting with a reflector or diffuser would be useful - halogen worklamps on stands are cheap and can be effective.
