Which camera is better and why

Crikey. If you have finances that sort themselves out have you thought of selling the concept/method/tools that make it happen? Should give you enough to buy the camera of your dreams.
Any of the banks would pay you a fortune to get such a thing out of their marketplace so I would recommend approaching them. (My first thought was to franchise the potential but then I figured - why work for the riches?)

Its easy to be a tw.at, but might take a bit more to explain the chip on your shoulder. Care to give it a go? simpo two said:
Actually, we're enjoying the lull, building up our strength for when you get this camera and start posting 'What does this button do?' threads...
I'll get myself fitted for that PH comapatible flame suit then

No chip. But have a touched a few exposed raw nerves?
If so quite unintentional. But you really should satisfy your desire by getting something, anything almost, and go out to start your familiarisation process. Then upgrade later when the fiscal flow allows and sell any unwanted stuff on to others. The cost of that approach will be small, relative to the budget you are prepared to expend, and the potential benefits for understanding better what you really desire will be great.
If you choose a brand and take care with your lens choices, the only upgrade cost is likely to be the body. Lenses tend to be subject to upgrade costs anyway as time passes. Since most people end up with two bodies anyway, just in case or by intent so that they have the option for two different lenses instantly available for example, there really is little or nothing to lose.
Your desire and commitment to own a DSLR is obviously very strong so why not just commit now at a lower budgeted cost and then gain from the price reductions on the body of your desire, post launch, in two or three months from now? I can't see the point in waiting given the ultimate spend you are prepared to undertake based on previous posts. It would mean you are up and running and producing creative photos you enjoy in time for the great light available in Spring and Summer. Go for it.

LongQ said:I'd rather not just buy 'anything' Ive spent the last few years casually browsing/learning (whilst enjoying my G5!) and now that Im finally ready to upgrade, like everyone else Ive spent a great deal of time reading about the current models, deciding which camera is most likely to meet my needs, and also (like you said) which lenses will most likely become keepers for life.

LongQ said:Ive only been without a camera for 4 days (since my G5 died). I fully expect to have a new one within a few weeks, maybe a month at the most, and be out there enjoying it over the Spring/Summer, taking photos - which is what its all about.

Admitedly I have my eye on some expensive gear.
I didnt want to come across as a flash git and say "Money is not an issue" but I wont actually be buying nor paying for the camera in the traditional sense. I'll go into more detail if you want to hear more.

Swapsies for work?
Through the bartercard system. Ive not signed up yet, but already have enough business waiting from bartercard members to pay for everything including the signup fee, and some.
I gave up doing the web designs myself years ago. My time is spent finding clients, and my staff now do all our web design work. Im probably in the bset business for it, as every business needs a website, but their category listing does include photographers and studios so it might work well for some people here too. Apparently, 20% of all business in australia is done through bartercard, who seem to be growing at a phenomenal rate and doing exceedinly well.
