I was in Basel with my girlfriend last week during their Fasnacht festival, and as usual had my trusty camera by my side

I'm still processing the shots I took, but here are a few as a taster!

It's a strange event - it starts at 4am on Monday, and runs through to 4am on Thursday, and during this time the various different groups (cliques) parade around the town in costume, with their floats and lanterns, and playing music on piccolo, drums and brass instruments.

The Tuesday is focused on the children, so there were lots of kids dressed up as animals being towed around in little trollies by their parents.

I'll post the rest in a few days

You'd better hope she doesn't read that, otherwise you will be gravy!
