In colour the sky is blue, the ground is very yellowy (high plains are very much like a desert environment - I think the altitude makes it that way) and the snowy stuff is white ;-)
I'll lob you a link to both if and when I get home from work tonight . . .

I was getting obsessed with the long straight roads, fences, ditches . . . miles and miles of emptyness . . .

I get the same feeling when I travel in the States, mostly the south west. Isn't Colorado full of mountains though ?
Well yes and no . . . this whole area these images are from is at 12000ft and is extremely flat - surrounded on all sides by mountains . . . west of Denver . . . on the west side of the continental divide . . .
. . . somewhere I'd love to spend some more time exploring, that and north Colorado/Montana . . . if you like miles and miles of now't . . . just need to find a way of funding more time off work . . .

My sister lives near Aspen and there most certainly are lots of mountains in Colorado, but half of it is pretty flat. Flying from Denver to Aspen is an awesome flight. The area around Denver is completely flat then all of sudden the rockies just appear.

Yeah, the flat plains before the rockies go on forever . . . get a good window seat and watch from the Canadian coast (usual lanfall) all the way to the rockies and there's nothing too hilly, but within 5 miles you go from flat to very mountainous . . . same at Calgary . . .
No matter how many times I fly that route (over 40 to the west coast of the US in the last few years) I always try for a window seat and am always blown away at the stunning emptyness of Canada, you're flying at nearly 700 mph and there is nothing for hours and hours . . . amazing . . .
They should have a good clean window for some nice images . . . but they rarely do . . .
I'm just about to book some flights to SFO in the summer to drive up to Vancouver through Oregon . . . really looking forwards to somewhere new ;-)
