I've accidentally formatted the CF card on my Canon 20D using the camera's format command. Have I lost the photos irretrievably? I know that deleted files can be recovered, but suspect that formatting overwrites irrecovably. Am I right, or are there tools which can 'undo'? Cheers, Rob

usually formatting doesn't remove all the data . . . defo worth running one of those recovery tools on it . . . I got a wee mini CD with one on with a sandisk I bought . . . if you're stuck I'm sure I can get you a copy for download . . .

Try 'Restoration' from here : www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html (sorry - the formatting codes link isn't working for me so you will need to cut and paste).

Just create a folder on your hardrive, tell the prog' to search for data from the card, and provided you have not used the card in the meantime you should get back all of your images.

Cheers,
Steve

(so the html code/past a link thing is automatic now then?)
