I've bought a mk1 Lensbaby and have been having a brief play today. The results have been ok, but there's definitely more to come

I was wondering how those of you who have used one have achieved the best results? Which aperture disk do you prefer etc?

Any photo's would be appreciated as well

Brief update: I had a play with this. Is quite a cool little gizmo and produces 'interesting' results. Would prefer it if there was some way to keep the lens in a particular position rather than having to continually re-compose.

I got a mk1 for £20, and now having had a play am glad I didn't pay the £100 for a new mk2.

At the end of the day, it's a toy - one which will be used every now and again

Those pictures remind me of what having a migrane does to my eyesight.

There is a Mk3 which can be locked in place.

I'm pretty sure EVO have been using one of these - the tyre test article this month. Looks very strange & out of keeping with the rest of the mags pics

Well, yes, I thought them gimicky too, but there seems to be quite a range of well-known pros that actually like them. And of course altering images digitally should be the last resort of a good photographer wink

How odd, there I was venturing into this forum to start a lensbaby thread and lo and behold there already is one!

Thinking about getting the girlfriend one, is it worth the extra for the mk2 or 3 and what's the benefit over mk1? Or should I not bother and get a proper lens that she hasn't got already, like a wide angle or even fisheye? ta smile

I have the mk2 lensbaby. Over the mk1 you get F2 vs F2.8 and the mk2 is meant to be sharper. I am very pleased with mine and rate it highly.

There is the 3G (I think) which allows you to lock it in place for reproducibility.

That sounds rather useful. Are they worth having though, or a gimmick that you mess about with for a bit and then get bored with? ta..

well I'd imagine you could recreate every effect with a little bit of work in PS
