Just a heads up for this initial article about shooting using a technical view camera and a 39 Megapixel digital back ...

its an interesting article as was his discussion on view cameras generally... I agree for absolute quality there is nothing better.. as a platform.
I'm not of the opinion that larger sensors are the dogs nuts.. it seems that these mf back manufacturers have lost themselves in the race for resolution when they already have it... there are so many other inconsistancies regarding backs that need to be resolved first.. like colour casts, moire, frame rates, stepping in highlights, the fact the glass is already at the limits, lack of dynamic range etc. I wish they would devote their energies in this direction, the pursuit of quaility rather than just outright size, the other problem is with all this attention to pixel counting they have forgotten the limitations of the platforms they are designed for.
the lenses for view cameras had to be all redesigned to cope with the last generation of backs, so thats more expense... new glass.. ouch
I saw the hasselblad rep recently who was demonstrating there latest back and the fact the resolution outpeformed the glass so much their is additional software to rework the images to compensate for this.
As for view cameras... its the way forward for certain types of work and the only way in some cases.. but talk about working hard for results... lol, how about half an hour a frame... viewing your image upside down and back to front and having so many adjustments you don't know where to start.. lol, I tried the linhof he describes and you had to reach around the sliding back to adjust the vital rear rise knobs.. very ungainly. I think they have added some flexxy expandable kinda knobs to try and compensate.. but it wasn't for me.
all in all his article is interesting but his choice of platform in my opinion is all about face... lol
