A great man... huge influence and a massive loss to the photographic community.. he was killed in an accident on saturday.., probably one of the greatest erotic and fashion photgraphers of our generation.. such a waste. if anyone hasn't read his book.. shooting sex I highly recommend it.. not only for the images but the lighthearted and awesomely way its written.

That is shocking news, a sad loss to the profession indeed.

Indeed, really powerful images.

Personal favourites are the crashing porsche, and the "action men", lots of humour in those.

I have a print of some forks of his in my kitchen, couple in the gallery there from the same series. I think it was based on a selection of stuff he found on the banks of the Thames. I actually really like his stuff that didn't have women in (sacrilege I know as that is what he was really famous for) he could lend his eye to a number of subjects but still had his own definite style, you could always tell it was one of his shots without knowing.

Even sadder, it looks possible that he committed suicide:

There's an extended report in the Daily Mail today, for those who are interested.

All very sad.

I bought Shooting Sex after reading this post, and agree - it's a great book. Some very good photos in there, and a great read.

I hadn't realised I'd seen so much of his work around - definitely a huge loss to the photographic world and a great shame.

couldn't agree more... that book is fantatsic, the image I always love is the candid self portrait on the back.. the one where vanessa upton is engaging you with her huge eyes.. and BCC is taking her image in the mirror and looking at her at the same time.. its just awesome.

I think his skill in shooting women on a blank canvas and making them look good is incredible.. not seen that often... I always made them look like tacky page 3 girls which is why I hate photographing models... If you can't make em look good ... don't bother..lol
