So I managed to get hold of a camcorder with an AV-in to use with by bullet cam. The problem is, I don't have a manual for the camcorder and whatever I do doesn't seem to work.
I've got the hang out recording with the camera with no bullet cam,but to get the bullet cam feed to show you seem to have to switch to Play(VCR) mode and select AV-in and then with the bullet cam plugged into the AV-in socket, I get the image and sound on the LCD screen. So having this you'd think all you have to do is hit the record button and away we go. Sadly, it doesn't seem that easy. You don't seem to to be able to record on the Play(VCR) setting and you can't ( seem ) to get the AV-in mode when on the normal recording mode . Please help before I smash £200 worth of camera .

Thanks

Can't answer the specific question . . . howevermy sony camcorder is exactly as you descrive, in VCR mode theres a non obvious way to start it recording . . . and the record button does not work . . . brilliant design eh ?

So . . . don't smash it, suggest downloading a manual from the net, bound to be one somewhere . . .

All I do it turn the camera on to VCR. Make sure that the bullet camera is on (which yours is no doubt as you are seeing the pictures and hearing the noise) then pop open the LCD screen press 'REC PAUSE' which switchs to the AV IN side of things. Then hit 'play/focus' which is one of the 4 round silver buttons on top. I think you then see a small red dot in the top right hand corner of the LCD.

Hope this helps, I'm doing it from memory as the bullet camera is all the way downstairs, and I'm feeling mighty lazy!

This is exactly the way to do it.

theboyfold, I thank you. Almost exactly right. For some odd reason with the Canon, pressing the record button on the camera has no effect.Doing so on the remote however sets it at pause and you then press the play button under where the LCD screen would fold away , and it then records fine.Seems an odd way to work, but at least I now know who to fo it. Thanks guys.
