Following the very helpful advise of fellow Pistonheader’s www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topi I purchased a Nikon D70s with 18-70mm lens, 70-300mm ED lens, Lowerpro Slingshot 200 and a 1GB Compact PRO Flash Card. At the time of purchase I was recovering from a back injury so have been a bit slow in using my new camera, after lots expensive visits to the sporting injury clinic I am fighting fit again and last weekend I took a visit to the start of this season’s VSCC series at Silverstone, these are my first attempts.....

It was too cold to move, hopefully a few more side shots next time

Mad that most of the drivers don't even have roll cages!

Lets have some feedback then on my first snaps

I swear there were three here earlier, now I can only see two.

Anyway, they look good, only comment I'd add is that (like everyone else) your D70 seems to underexpose a little bit - if you pump up the contrast a touch you should find the pics are a bit less flat.

Shutter speed, aperture and point of focus all look good, think I'd be tempted to crop off those two stewards in the bright jackets on the right of the first photo though. As you've cropped tightly we can see that the cars are actually racing each other in the second shot which is good. We can also see that they're leaning but we can't see why they're doing that, it would be a bonus to have a visual clue about the corner included in the picture, such as the edge of the kerbing - difficult on a wide circuit like Silverstone but other circuits may offer more opportunities of that nature.
