Hi Everyone,

Im currently running photoshop 7 on my iBook, and im considering upgrading to photoshop CS2, and i was just wondering if it was worth the upgrade? or whether i should stick with what i have? I tend to use photoshop quite a lot, especially at the moment for my graphic design course, but i also tend to use it to do my own personal projects.

Any thoughts most welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Oliver

If you use PS to its fullest extent and find yourself thinking "ooh, i wish it did ..." then upgrade. If you're just doing light work (which i suspect you're not) then 7 will be fine. I tried the CS2 demo and went back to 6 afterwards.

if you are using an ibook if you don't have enough RAM Cs2 will run very painfully.. it is a much more functional program than 6 and you get the benefits of bridge etc.. but it consumes alot of juice

The iBook im using is a G4 1.42GHz with 512mb of ram running mac os x 4.6, although i am consdering whether to also consider adding more ram to run photoshop a little better, especially when running alongside quarkxpress.

I think its a worthwhile upgrade, it certainly has more functionality but is also noticeably slower. Smart sharpen is significantly better than the unsharp mask, the lens correction filter is something else I find very useful too and you'l be able to process RAW files as well.

i use cs2 on my ibook g4 1.4ghz with 1.25 gig of ram and it works fine even when im shooting with my mf digital back tethered and photoshop open, cs2 is also a vast improvement i think.
