pinnacle studio 8 being a pain

Hi all

Can anyone help with a pinnacle studio 8 problem?

I've just rediscovered my miniDV camcorder, i've reinstalled the copy of studio 8 i had but it seems to have made a mess of my computer.
Both my cd-rom and the cd-rw have been disabled by windows because of a registry error caused by the installation of pinnacle, I followed bits of information around the net about deleting upper and lower filters from the registry....mine only had lowerfilters listed!

But pinnacle still refuses to burn to disc and tells me there is no cdrw even though windows can see it now.

I realise it's a long shot but it's doing my nut in now!
