This is a tricky one for me, my little canon compact only has autofocus! So it focses on what it likes.
I had a bit of a go by using macro, but its not very brill.
What do you all think? Feel free to be harsh.

Well then you must just be naturally talented at it because I spent a bloody fortune on a DSLR and out of god knows how many shots I've taken with it none of them are as good as the stuff you post up here

I haven't had to do depth of field yet though

Look at some of the shots that matt (gravy whatever he is this week) took with his old sony cybershot. Only recently got a proper DSLR.
If you set out expecting to take crap photos and be limited by your equipment then you'll succeed on both counts. My mate consitently takes far better photos with disposable cameras than i do with £1k of kit.
