Have been hiding in the corner of this forum for a while, admiring some lovely works.
It's now time to dive in and start the learning process. I have armed myself with Langford's 'Basic Photography'and a helpful, intelligent web forum to start with. Am starting from scratch so all tips will be welcomed as I try and learn a new craft.
Here are some point and shoots from a few months back, no thought of composure/lighting and no image altering;
'Private, No Shooting'
Could do with a border on here:
Hope the sizings are ok for everyone, followed Mrs Fish advice of 750x wide

Hi HS
First up... welcome... and I LOVE the glider in the extreme top left of the first pic!
Not sure what camera you have but if it can fit a Neutral Density gradated filter (Cokin do one - with the right sized mount it's about £20), you'll find you won't need borders, as your skys will stop 'bleaching out' - they will be blue (or grey if you live near me)
It'll be the best, cheapest way of improving your photos.
Have fun
Steve

just keep shooting.
do try and think about what is your subject - for instance in your third shot i assume it was the building in the background... so what might you have done to make it subject and not background?
add to that the messy foreground and it further muddles what you are trying to say, i feel.
try and keep it simple to begin with... think about what is in the whole of the picture.
