Accccording to Nikonians most of the changes will be available on regular old D2x's via firmware upgrade . . .

Also . . . friend just bought a d200 . . . nice camera . . . already complaining about battery life tho' . . . ?

I thought this post would get a load of Nikon drumbeaters posting...but this camera obviously isn't up to Nikon's usual high standards

Looks like the d2xs is a similar upgrade to the d70s, eg not worth it if you already have one.

fergus, i'm surprised to hear about battery life with a d200, mine is good for about 1000 shots per charge, which is slightly better than my D70 could manage.

Or perhaps the Nikon/Canon wars are very tedious . . . ?

Anyways, It's a minor facelift to their flagship camera, so how it "isn't up to Nikons usual high standards" beats me . . . it's still their flagship camera . . .

oops . . . I bit . . . ;-)

On battery life with the d200, not sure what life he's getting but it was the only negative he had . . . I thought it strange . . . I've almost stopped thinking about battery life as the life on my old d2x is seemingly endless . . . which is nice . . .

Battery life on the D2x is simply bizzare. Provided the battery started it's life correctly (lots of runs to empty) it just goes on and on. I haven't seen the battery charger in weeks - actually, where the hell is it?

On a track day with the old D1 (circa: year 2000) I used to depleat three batteries before lunch (about 200 pics each).... a right royal pain it was too. I once made the mistake of leaving all three batteries in the car overnight before a track day... all were dead as a dead thing next morning due to the arctic +3C. Things have moved on. I have to say Mrs Gets' D50 is also pretty good.

Aston Martin (and TVR as I understand it) need to talk to Nikon or Canon regarding holding charge!
