Some git is using my pictures in a competing auction to one I'm already running.

He's used the same pictures, the same gallery picture (which will show in the search window) and has even used the description I wrote.

Sounds like a scam, looks like a scam, but may NOT be a scam in that it appears this is his standard way of advertising products he is selling.

I've alerted eBay and have now put watermarks on my photo's (which has led him to remove those from the body of his auction), but the gallery photo is still being used.

Surely this is copyright infringement, and if so, how can I scare him?

E-mail him and tell him he does not have permission to use the image and to remove it immediately.

Give us a link...I'll certainly ask him some questions

If it continues, post a link and we'll have a big bidding war to screw up his auction, then we can non-pay claiming it's fraudulent.

Is the other person linking directly to your images ? If so can you change your originals to a different name and upload a picture of something else as a replacement under the original name - such as a picture of a couple of fingers ?

The pillock has now changed his auction, but my product description is still posted.

eBay have been useless, and have done nothing since I alerted them to this early yesterday.

Thanks for the advice

I had this happen to one of my photos. I mailed the guy whose auction it was, and he didn't remove it, so I complained to ebay who cancelled his auction

ebay usually take this quite seriously, its easy to prove if he can not provide a higher quality version than you.
