8 Megapixels!?!?!

I have recently bought a kodak p880. I took some pictures, looked at them on my Pc monitor and they dont look like 8 MP! i did have a Kodak C340 which was 5.1 Megapixels. I dont understand. I know that megapixels are size of printing but i thought they had a slight improvement in picture quality. ALso when i look at them they have jagged edges and when i zoom in the picture is Really, Really blocky.

Megapixels are just the size of the images (resolutions), so it's nothing to do with image quality. Just one thing... have you set the camera to take 8MP images at highest setting?
