Bit weird this one but I've noticed when viewing a jpg in a browser it can reduce the saturation, particulary of red. This shot I took tonight looks great on my PC in Windows Picture Viewer or Photoshop but in IE the red looses it's vibrancy and that is the key to the shot. Has anyone else noticed this phenonenon?

Maybe 'tis just an illusion when you see the photo alongside other things in your browser

Looks vibrant to me on my CRT and using IE6. However my pic of the orange Lamborghini in the July thread looks a bit green when I view it in IE compared to Photoshop, and it looks different again in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer - way over-saturated. Guess that colour management isn't consistent over the applications.

It's because PC versions of IE don't colour manage, and Photoshop does, always a nightmare.

Best workaround is to convert your pics to sRgb, but it's still not perfect.

I tried handling a few shots in Prophoto RGB for a while - fine to work with on screen when the colour's managed but uploaded them to a site and then looked at the result through Firefox Too dark for normal viewing!

DId you convert to sRGB before uploading to the web? If not, that would explain why the colours came out different.

No I didn't - that's what I mean, it's a very noticeable difference if your colour management isn't consistent. I uploaded without remembering the colour space I was working in but you couldn't miss the effect.

Seconded about sRGB. I've got an action for batch converting stuff for exactly that reason.

I'm glad it wasn't just me, I thought that looking at photos of models for hours might have ruined my eyesight
