Sony hdr-hc3e (Hi-def camcorder)

HDR-FX1E here. Quality of images is outstanding. Sometimes I need to tweak the film settings, but most of the time automatic settings are fine and a smaller unit would do the job, as well as being more convenient for in-vehicle use.
You may find that the camera is the cheap part - it's Final Cut Pro HD, a Powermac to run it on, shedloads of hard disk and a dirty great plasma to view the footage that starts to cost

Thanks for the reply.
I had factored in the need for an additional dedicated hard drive. Was hoping I could use iMove HD and a MacBookPro?
As for the huge plasma, I still have a CRT that was a wedding present!
My thinking is, long term, I'll have all the footage in HD when I'm able to upgrade to HD LCD.
