Initially I used Fotango, but got fed up of the logo under the pictures, so moved to Photobucket... however, they now seem to resize pictures for their convienience

Are there any decent free online photo storage things I can link too, mainly for posting pics on PH / giving links to mates..?

TIA

They resize the pictures if they are over 250kb, but as I found out yesterday through another thread, you can go to account options and up the size to just over 1000kb, so that should sort you out.

I never did understand the reason to use photohosting sites - you've more than likely got some webspace storage through your ISP - use that - you're already paying for it and once you've seen how easy it is to FTP the stuff to the site you'll never go back to crap hosting sites.

Just found this out. PITA is that you have to kill the album, and re-submit all the pics...

Thanks though

i use both. i have my website that i use for my better pictures which i always mean to keep updating but never get around to, but photobucket is just that little bit quicker and easier so i use that for my everyday stuff. sure i could use my webspace for all my uploads but it doesnt really make any difference to me, so i probably wont change my habits until i sit down one day and properly update my own website to a standard that i am happy with.

Why 750? Is that what PH resizes too?

That sounds like me. I've got very few pics on my website and I never seem to find the time to update it.

I second Flickr. I like the community aspect to it and the groups and so on. I still have a portfolio site though for my best stuff, just Flickr's well handy for hosting events and themed stuff.

Webshots is pretty good, but they insist on installing a load of nagware on your PC.

I do think some of these "free" sites are sometimes a false economy. You would be as well to look at some of the hosting sites such as Pbase and others that people have mentioned. Everyone will have their own preferences but suffice to say I have been very happy with Pbase and the cost is something like $40 for over a year of storage (more in fact if you upload less as it works on a credit formula whereby an amount of credits are deducted each month based on the number of photos you upload.
