Plasma connectivity ????

Apologies if my question seems a little basic, but I am not very technically versed, especially where connecting up and linking electronic equipment is concerned.
Can you please help me with regards to how, what cables to use, and what connections I need to make, i.e. which input/output sockets I need to use from each piece of kit. I have just got a Fujitsu plasma - model P42HHA40US, I know I will need to buy myself a digi-box, which I'm happy to do, I just need to decide on which model, but I want to connect all of this up to my existing Sony compact AV system, model DAV-S500, and Sony video recorder. Can anyone please advise on how I can do this, any information/sketches would be a great help?.

Order of cable quality best to worst:

Digital (poss used by digibox, Sky HD):
HDMI
DVI

Analog:
Component
RGB
S-video
Composite.

No idea what inputs/outputs your kit has sorry but I'd sugest:

Digibox = digital or RGB (via scart) - unless component is a choice
AV source/dvd player - component 1st (via 3 phono), RGB via scart 2nd, s-video (by s-vid cable or scart) 3rd
VHS recorder - most will be composite at best, some are s-video, use scart.
