its my 40th next year - so my wife and I have blown the budget and are off to the Galapagos for 2 weeks.

I have an EOS 20D with a standard 18-55 Lens - what Lens/Lenses would you invest in for the trip - max 2??

Plus what course would you recommend for a total EOS Dummy - with a good eye?!?!?!?

I think a sensible choice would be a Sigma 70-210 f2.8, cheaper than a Canon and I've seen some great images from it. To compliment it, and your other lens, instead of buying a third lens what about a x1.4 teleconverter and a set of extention tubes?

Martin.

I had a customer who swore by the Canon 10-22mm, and took that and a... 70-200mm or 80-200mm lens on a month-long safari to Africa, where he needed to keep the weight down. He spent an entire year buying various lenses and accessories, and after taking thousands of pictures apparently the 22-70mm gap isn't all that important. But that's just one opinion, and works mainly if you're shooting landscapes and distant objects, and not a lot of portraits.

The Canon 70-200 f4L gets very good reviews (people think it is very nearly as sharp as the 70-200 f2.8L) and is lighter than the sigma 70-200 2.8 for lugging about, depends if the extra stop is worth the large amount of extra weight?
