I came across this photo I took last year. And while I know it's good for neither the camera's sensor nor the photographer's eye to take pictures of this nature, does anyone else have pictures of the sun directly? Not sunset shots, but just directly of the sun.

D70, 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5
f/29, 1/8000 sec, ISO 200, +2EV

Oh, and that was the only time I've ever used 1/8000 sec shutter speed...

Firstly You should never take pictures of the direct sun unless; you have a proper filter; it's sunrise or sunset (but you still have to be very careful if the sun is still above horizon); or it's well diffused behind clouds or mist/fog. You are really taking a huge risk.

Does this count? It was taken on a very foggy day.

Not a great pic as I've just uploaded it from Fotango...

Taken during the transit of Venus (with a filter and telescope!)

Jeez, and they couldn't even take care of the sensor dust in the bottom left hand corner. You'd think if they would have checked that before taking the picture.

How can something spherical have a corner?

But it's not a sphere! It's a circle!
