Been looking for a compact digital camera for a while now, but I thought I'd wait for some reviews of the Fuji F30 before I took the plunge, as it could be just what I'm looking for.
One review I've just read raves about performance indoors and in poor light, but rates picture quality in bright sunlight as only "competent".
Anyone got an F30 yet? Any views?

Eh, I don't like Fuji digital cameras and would never recommend them, but there are others on this forum that get great results from them. IMO Fuji would have been better off sticking with film. I love their film...

Can't help with the F30, but my F10 is great for snaps, really quick to startup and a huge battery life. Not so great for the arty pics as there isn't that much control over the shutter speed, etc.

Had a look at one today.
Am looking for a digi compact for my better half and have looked at (among others)
(small)
Canon Ixus 800 IS,
FUJI F30
(larger)
Canon S3 IS
Panasonic FZ7

Currently down to FZ7 or F30 (Ixus too small, S3 too big/too many buttons/too heavy), FZ7 she really likes the feel of, F30 feels comfortable and is small with good picture quality.

I borrowed an IS800 and was impressed with the quality, but the reviews suggest the F30 blows it away at higher ISO settings. This was confirmed looking at the F30 today. Very impressed with some test shots.

Final decision will be down to my wife, but at the moment, the F30 looks a very strong contender. Having said that, if Fuji released an F30 with image stabiliser, I think it'd be a no-brainer. Anyway, good luck in your search for the perfect digi compact.

Conrad.

The FZ-7 is very nice, and I'd recommend it over any other camera in that category.

OK, she finally decided on the FZ7 (black) today as the handling won out over the smaller size of the F30.
I think both are excellent cameras though.
