Velvia Vision Plugin
Discussion
Been playing with the Fred Miranda Velvia Vision plugin on a few dull images to see if it can increase the dynamic range of the image, and I think its quite impressive. If you dont have the PS ability to edit curve masks, HSL masks etc then it can provide all of these from one easy to use interface with sliders and a preview.
Examples below:
Befores
Afters
Does quite a job with landscapes as well, dont think it would work on portraits or night shots so well. You can also change to B&W using it if you use -gve values on the sliders.
$24.99 from Fred Miranda site, although it is available free on Limewire, but of course that would be wrong!
Edited because I can't write today!!!

What on earth are a music downloading site doing with FM plug-ins?
Martin.
PS - and BTW...that Velvia plug-in makes grass look unnatural.

I think it would have is uses if you saved its output as a seperate layer, you could then remove parts of the layer that dont look right, I agree though the grass ends up looking TOO green, and not natural. That is possibly because I overdone it though, i'm still playing with it.
I have the same images where I have corrected the exposure myself, and I think if you do it manually you can do a much better job. With practice though with it being an easy to use plugin, and if you are not confident with photoshop, you could probably get some decent results from dull images.
I wouldnt pay $24.99 for it though,

Yep I only downloaded it today, like i said still playing with it.
I'm glad i didnt pay $24.99 for it, and I dont know how much i will use it, but I will keep perservering with it and try to get more subtle results.
Do you think that its better using it to enhance a good image, rather than trying to recover a bad image?

Yes, definitely. I use it to give the images that extra kick. Probably I would've use it only for the last image, and maybe for the 1st one too but only after correcting the exposure.

I use this software too but I prefer to use it in more subtle way.
